I know that everyone wants to wear denim shorts this season. And so they should. However, let me help you make the right sartorial choices with a few words of wisdom.
1. Avoid the white pockets hanging below the shorts hem. This is a dated look and is only worn this way by Miley Cyrus these days.
2. A cuff is totally on-trend this season so if you are cutting down a pair of jeans, leave enough leg to roll a small cuff (as in the photo on the bike by Garance Dore)
3. Combine your shorts with soft items like over-sized tees and loose cardigans or scarves (see Nicole Richie) for the weekend
4. For the weekday, a cute jacket and a neckpiece can smarten up even the shortest shorts (see Kate Moss)
5. And finally, please make sure they fit — no snug thigh creep would be good.
