No more than two years ago it would have been unheard of that a model, famed for swimwear work, signed to Victoria's Secret, would have been even considered for a spot walking the high fashion shows in Paris, Milan and London. Unheard of. And now look at our very own South African model sensation, Candice Swanepoel. This season alone she has walked the biggest and most prestigious runways of fashion week, spring summer 2012 collections, including Chanel, Giambattista Valli, Jean Paul Gautier, Fendi and Stella McCartney, before returning to New York to pick up with her campaign work.
Sure, Candice is the tenth highest earning model in the world. Not bad for a girl from the Natal midlands. Or some such place. But what I really like about her is this. When her friend from school recently needed a job, she flew her out to New York City, gave her a room in her apartment and employed her as her assistant. For a while. Until she is back on her feet. Now that, my readers, is a girl with style. Love her.
