Every now and again you come across a fashion spread that hasn't been done before — that is the reference from which we all draw. Of course, there has been many of spread capturing the relationship between rock chick and fashion designer. But this one, in the July issue of W Magazine, is fresh. Mostly because it doesn't try and guild the lily or hide behind suggestion. It simply pairs some of the greatest designers around with musical muses. And so doing, lets us see these musicians as more than their music.
Then when you combine this incredible access to both designer and muse with an interview by Debbie Harry...well... it's Debbie Harry. Blondie. Atomic. Literally. I would probably faint if I was ever in a room with her.
Photographs are by Max Vadukul and you can see the full story and read the interviews by clicking here on the W.
My favourites from the story include the Karl Lagerfeld and Janelle Monae, a joyous Kanye West and the Rodarte sisters (Kate and Laura Mulleavy), Francisco Costa from Calvin Klein with his muse Esperanza Spalding, Burberry's Christopher Bailey with George Craig from One Night Only (and who dated Emma Watson last year) and of course, the mighty Florence Welch and Frida Giannini from Gucci.
