The Art of Fashion
Let me tell you two things that have preceded this post. First, I have been struggling for about five years to fuel my default signature style (what I call Katherine Hepburn dressing) and Margaret Howell is the only label that I know that does this — and I can't afford it. And so I have given up and resorted to dresses. Which brings me to the second point. I have a wardrobe full of dresses that I have barely worn for the past three to four months.
Why you ask? Well, five days out of seven I am in trousers. I am not sure why it shifted. I am not exactly sure when it shifted. But a shift has happened and the total dominance of the dress is over. Trousers will rule the first few seasons next year. Mark my words.
Look at what Zara, Mango and Celine have conjured up for winter. It's not about the white blouse — although that is important (especially ones with bows) — it is about the silhouette of the trouser. It is time to hunt them down.
I always say, see something once and it is cute. See something twice and it is a coincidence. See something three times and it is a trend. This, my blog readers, is definitely a trend.
