EXCLUSIVE: Behind the Scenes at Model Casting for Fashion Business Angola

Sometimes I love it that I know lots of lovely people in the local fashion industry. Sometimes I just like to hang with them, but every so often they send me some useful and interesting information as well. They are cool like that.
So today the super-bright and awesome Emma Jordan sent me this info and some great behind the scenes photos to share with y'all.
The story is that the biggest fashion and beauty expo on the African continent will take place in Angola next month. It is called Fashion Business Angola and runs December 9 – 12, in Luanda, Angola.
They were casting in Joburg this past week for the models to walk the show, and we managed to get hold of some of these pics. Apparently the models are going to be a 'united nations of the modelling world' with girls and boys from 36 countries walking the ramps.
It is all in preparation for the exhibition, which is bringing together 130 fashion and beauty exhibitors. Concurrently, more than twenty designers will be holding daily shows — all directed by the uber-talented Jan Malan so you know it is going to be slick.
Designers include David Tlale, Marianne Fassler, Kluk CGDT, Stoned Cherrie, Craig Port, Craig Native, Undacova and Dax Martin swimwear alongside Mickley Banda from Zambia, Taibo Bacar from Mozambique, Anna Ngann Yonn from Cameroon, and Soucha from Egypt. Isilda Pelicano, Fatima Lopes and Nuno Baltazar will be showing from Portugal.
“This is the first time an event of this kind will be happening in Africa,” says Mr Matos Cardoso, the President of the Board of FIL Angola.
