Carey Mulligan and Alexa Chung — When Chanel Is Done Right

This week at the CFDA Fashion Fund Awards in N.Y.C. Carey Mulligan had a star-quality night. She discovered on the red carpet of the event, just as these pictures were being taken, that she had beat out Scarlett Johansson, Blake Lively and Natalie Portman for the role as Daisy in the remake of the Great Gatsby. Apparently she burst into tears at the news. And just look at this outfit. So appropriate for a young woman who is quirky, fiercely true to her own style and a bit on the demure side. A stand-out outfit by Chanel.
And just look at Alexa's march-to-the-beat-of-her-own-drum style for the event. I told you last week that I was predicting that over-sized shirts and glam bottoms would be a trend. It looks delightful to me. But then she probably picked the trend up from our book club chats.
