African Supermodel Behati Prinsloo Turns Photographer

Like all good girls from Africa, a Boer Maak n Plan. Finding yourself in a job with a limited shelf-life, you plan for your future (even if you are very, very rich). And African supermodel Behati Prinsloo is no different.
Working together with her best friend and even more super-model, Coco Rocha, they announced that Behati will be going to the other side of the lens for one of Coco's charity projects to benefit Haiti. Traveling together to Haiti, Behati will record it all on film and present a gallery exhibition of photographs on their return to raise the funds and awareness.
This is not the first time that Behati has acted photographer. For over a year, the young African has been working on her picture-taking and developing skills and has already curated her first exhibit as part of Fratelli Rossetti’s Fashion’s Night Out event in September, to display their Spring/Summer 2010 collection.
Behati was also the photographer at Coco's wedding and the images were published in Vogue. This came after the girls roped in Coco's husband-to-be for a day of shooting in Central Park. These gorgeous photos were some of the results.
Behati shoots on on film, she says,
"I mostly shoot black and white, and I use a Nikon F10 and also the Contax G2. I love film. Helmut Newton’s pictures are amazing and that’s what I want! I think digital in some ways took away a photographers freeness. Not knowing what you have and seeing the pictures when you develop them is really nice. Every one comes out different and I love the feel of film, the way it looks. I’ve learned a lot on shoots from everyone — Matt Jones said I should come assist him just to learn how to do light reading and stuff… or, maybe I forced him in to that haha!"
