Venice Film Festival: Some Other Best Dressed
So wrapping up the fashion coverage of the 68th Annual Venice Film Festival, I wanted to take a look at some of the outfits worn when the person concerned wasn't the star of a movie premier. Like Salma Hyak who looked impossibly glamorous as she wandered the streets of Venice in her Balenciaga colour fest. Gorgeous dress, great shoes and awesome bag. Being incredibly rich really does suit her, it needs to be said. That beautiful grey Gucci evening number is not too shabby either — and I love the bun vibe too. Salma wore that to the 2011 Gucci award for Women in Cinema held in Venice this weekend.
Also at the Gucci Award for Women in Cinema was the latest young actress to capture the moment, Evan Rachel Wood. Not only is she in The Clooney's movie, but she also attended the premier of Mildred Pierce at the Festival. She wore another Alessandra Rich dress to that event — in black as opposed to the white she wore for her own premier. And then wore Gucci of course to the their awards evening. Also in black. For a young woman who can do rich jewel tones better than most, I would like to see her in some more colour now. She has everything else working for her at the moment so let's evoke some of the colour that we saw on the fall/winter catwalks. Good.
And finally, another superstar in black Gucci for the Women in Cinema event was Madonna. Looking spectacular, it needs to be said. Stunning dress. But what is with the sunglasses lady? Really, how to spoil an amazing look right there. What a pity.
So until next year, that's a wrap for outfits from Venice. I look forward to the next film festival...which is the Deauville Film Festival in France. Check the blog tomorrow for amazing red carpet looks from that one!
