Fashion never exists in a vaccum. It is always a reflection of society — our politics, our economic well being and our social mores. Watching fashion season pass through New York, London, Milan and Paris every six months is, to a fashion sociologist and analyst, like watching a life you don't know you are leading yet, reflected back at you.
So I thought it was very interesting that Gucci's latest collection was one of conspiculous abundance. It was tassles and feathers and gold and sumptuous silk. This was a collection of total decadance.
This sure bodes well for the year ahead...
