The Art of Fashion

Alexa Chung for UK Harpers Bazaar
My mate Alexa Chung was lucky enough to land the cover of the UK edition of Harpers Bazaar for October 2011. For the accompanying photo shoot she was styled in a retro 60s vibe with lots of bright colours and rich fabrication.
This led to some conversation about how she had gone off that look after being so intrinsically linked to it by the public — likening it to Sienna Miller and boho — and wanting to do something different. "I fell out of love with the 60s'" she said.
She confessed that she was ready to come back to it now that she realised how much it suited her and that she missed it. But is still exploring her other aesthetics through her line for Madewell.
In this shoot, Alexa is wearing a selection of items from Prada (the red coat above), Burberry (the pale blue dress), Lanvin (the red dress) and Stella McCartney (the b&w). Which is a pretty exciting line up of designers, all of whom are styled to look super-60s and very Alexa. Ah, the joys of playing with fashion.
One more thing on the Alexa front — you know she was in Australia recently? Well, she was also on the cover of the Australian edition of Harpers. Double trouble from Alexa this month. There is no escaping from her unique style no matter where you are in the world!
What do you think of the photos and the styling? You like?
