Givenchy Fall 11 Haute Couture Is Proof of Magic
I have a fractious relationship with Ricardo Ticci's collections for the house of Givenchy. Some collections I am a blubbering wreck of crazy for them, posting images of looks on my wall so I can feel inspired and dream of owning such things. Other collections are, "huh?" And sometimes it takes more than the presentation for me to warm up to them. I never know what exactly is going to happen, what he is going to present, what mood he is in — wild, studded and powerful — or crazy soft and aztec.
I feel like the last few collections have all been working toward this one. That this one is the appropriate culmination of all of this work. That somewhere between spring/summer and these fall collections, Ricardo has learnt how to do magic and he made some of his usual frocks and then went ahead and sprinkled his own potion of magic dust all over it to create this spectacle of beauty.
Have I been too verbose? Too over-eager? I don't care. I loved this collection. Loved it. Did you?
