Costume Institute Gala 2011 Red Carpet: Stella McCartney Winners
This morning I nearly tripped over my jaw as it hit the ground. The cause? Madonna looking jolly pretty. Such a beautiful soft blue colour in a silk satin drape. Gloriously jazzed up with sparkling stars. I think that Stella McCartney has outdone herself. This almost made my best dressed list. Delicious.
Sir Paul brought along his girlfriend Nancy Shevell who was resplendent in purple. Nancy has been unfailing in her support of Sir Paul's daughter since the day they started dating and Stella has not failed her in the style stakes. Beautiful.
Gwyneth Paltrow continued on her stylish way with this floor length encrusted gold number. I love that it is perfectly Gwyneth and yet absolutely Stella — a great representation of a designer and client coming together.
And finally, Stella McCartney herself in a monochrome satin frock that is really a dress-mullet. Hmmmm. Four totally different looks from one designer that says more about the flexibility, adaptability and personality of a label that acknowledges the people wearing the dresses rather than glorifying the designer. Now that is something worth celebrating.
