Italian Vogue Uses Hottest African Models for All-Black Editorial
I have long been a supporter of Italian Vogue. It out-Vogues all the others in my book. And it has also spearheaded the drive to get more black models into editorial fashion stories and on to the covers. You simply cannot argue with the validity of that quest. In July 2008 they put out, what has now become an iconic issue, the all-black issue. And in the current issue they have a wonderful new editorial which only features black girls — including some of our favourites. it is titled The Black Allure.
Of course the mega-black girls are all in there like Chanel Iman and Jourdan Dunn. But hello, who is that right up front? None other than Ajak Deng. We like her a lot here at StyleGuide HQ. And we love that she is becoming part of the core group of go-to girls. She has come so far since I first posted on her just six months ago, when you could barely find two words online about her. Congrats lady. Long may it last.
