The Art of Fashion

Miss SA 2011 is Melinda Bam
So I landed up trending on Twitter SA last night as a result of all the tweet chat around the screening of the Miss SA pageant. I was fairly outraged by the fact that there were no girls from Cape Town, that Gert Johan Coetzee was representing SA fashion (really??) and that the fashion through most of the show was baaad. With the exception of the swimwear which was restrained and flattering (thank you Dax Martin) and the yellow evening dress section (thank you Rosenwerth). For the rest, pah. And luckily the winner was wearing one of the Rosenwerth dresses, so she looked good for the final pictures.
The winner was Melinda Bam. I thought she was by far the prettiest girl there. Something of a mash up between early Brittany Spears and Dianna Agron (Quinn in Glee). Very, very pretty. Soft brown eyes, blonde hair and a killer bod. She really did stand out from the moment she stepped on stage. Lovely.
But there is never any fun without a bit of controversy. Melinda has been a FHM girl for a while, having appeared on their calender and everything. Horror. Really? I can't imagine that she has done anything that Miss Venezuela hasn't in her quest for international beauty stardom. Yes, she is also a bit on the short side and probably won't place internationally. But was she the most beautiful girl there last night, yes, indeed she was. Go Melinda. Have a great year and represent us well. Thanks.
